Watch Slayyyter play her version of Turnstile’s ‘Birds’ live for the first time in Atlanta

Slayyyter has performed her version of Turnstile ’s ‘Birds’ live for the first time during a show in Atlanta – check out footage below.

The singer is currently out on her ‘Wor$t Girl In The World’ tour, and brought the cover into her set at The Eastern on Monday night (September 21).

She performed ‘Birds: Slayyyter Version’ at the end of her main set, immediately after ‘Brittany Murphy’, before returning for an encore of ‘Brand New Chanel$’ and ‘Beat Up Chanel$’.

It marked the first time she has played the reworking live, having originally recorded her take on ‘Birds’ for Turnstile’s ‘Never Enough: Versions’ reworked album, which arrived on August 28.

The 22-track project saw songs from Turnstile’s fourth album reimagined by a wide-ranging cast of artists, including Elton John , Hayley Williams , Blood Orange , A. G. Cook , Faye Webster , Four Tet , Oklou , Floating Points , Nourished By Time , Alex G , Julien Baker and Mustafa .

Panda Bear also contributed a version of ‘Magic Man’, while Dying Fetus supplied a second, death metal reworking of ‘Birds’.

Her version transforms the original’s hardcore attack into a more electronic, maximalist take that sits closer to the sound of her latest album, ‘Wor$t Girl In America’ .

The original ‘Birds’ appeared on Turnstile’s 2025 album ‘Never Enough’ , and went on to win Best Metal Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards . The album itself also took home Best Rock Album.

In a five-star review of ‘Never Enough’ , NME described ‘Birds’ and ‘Sole’ as tracks that harked back to the band’s hardcore roots, while praising the wider record for “furthering their unique, pop-facing take on hardcore”.

Slayyyter and Turnstile are also due to share a bill next month, when she supports the band alongside Die Spitz at the University of Kansas in Lawrence on October 6 as part of the latter’s ‘Never Enough Tour Pt. 2’.

The performance comes amid a breakthrough year for Slayyyter. Her third album ‘Wor$t Girl In America’ arrived in March, with NME ’s review praising its blend of “brash, sleazy pop” and late-’00s indie sleaze influences.

Last month, she also covered Hole’s ‘Violet’ for triple J’s Like A Version , prompting Courtney Love to hail the rendition as “a delight” and tell her to “keep wiping the floors with us”.

Weeks later, Slayyyter brought ‘Wor$t Girl In America’ to Reading Festival, where NME ’s live review said there was “undoubtedly a star before us on stage”, praising her “rasped, rocked-up delivery” and increasingly confident live presence.
