Awards season is, somehow, upon us once again (didn’t we just watch the 2026 Oscars ?), and the first show on our radar is the 2026 Emmy Awards . Below, find everything you need to know before the September 14 ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Mariska Hargitay ! The actor may play a deadly serious role on the long-running Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , but in real life, her mix of Hollywood savoir-faire and abundant energy (not for nothing did she recently star on Broadway in Every Brilliant Thing ) may just be the shot in the arm that the Emmys needs.
The Primetime Creative Arts Emmys—which honor “technical and behind-the-scenes achievements in American television”—were held on September 5 and 6 in Los Angeles, and one of the biggest and most heart-wrenching stories from the ceremony was the news of late actor Rob Reiner being awarded a posthumous Emmy for his role on The Bear .
Elsewhere, Katie Dippold’s breakout comedy Widow’s Bay took home a whopping eight awards; Shailene Woodley scored her first Emmy in the guest actress in a drama series category for her role on Paradise ; 90-year-old Julie Andrews won yet another Emmy for her voiceover work on Bridgerton ; and Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter officially became Emmy winners—he for his Super Bowl halftime performance, she for her work on The Muppet Show .

The 2026 Emmys will take place on Monday, September 14 starting at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST. The show will air live on NBC, but the evening’s goings-on can also be streamed on Peacock or on live TV providers including YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, FuboTV, and Sling TV.
