One of many awkward questions that could be asked about the football hooligan turned far-right rabble-rouser Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, AKA Tommy Robinson. And reporter Matt Shea is asking a few of them in this investigation, after spending a year analysing public records and documents connected to Yaxley-Lennon’s prolific yet somewhat shadowy fundraising. 9pm, BBC Two The issue of grooming gangs has become a cynically exploited political football. This horrifying documentary allows many of the girls involved to tell their stories. It’s clear that there is no cultural specificity to either victims or perpetrators – it’s a problem related to other forms of criminality, and to a poisonous version of masculinity. PH
9pm, ITV1 An actor’s nightmare plays out live on stage, when a prop knife is switched for a real one during a performance. A tragic accident or something more sinister? DCI Maiya, DS Dan and Professor T investigate a theatre company riven with rivalries and grudges. Meanwhile, Zelda Radclyffe’s tarot cards hint at a “highly significant” romance in Jasper’s future. 10pm, BBC Four David Rudkin and Alan Clarke’s 1974 Play for Today, Penda’s Fen, is an astonishing piece of work – a coming-out and coming-of-age story but couched in Deep England mythology and folk horror tropes. It gets a rare showing here but, first, lead actor Spencer Banks reflects on a career-defining role. PH
