Frequently asked questions
Which order should a first-timer use?
Release order—the five films tell a linear story, while the shows and anime are optional side content. Timeline mode pulls Kong: Skull Island (1973) and the '90s anime to the front, which suits a lore rewatch.
Can I skip Monarch: Legacy of Monsters?
Yes—the films stand fully on their own. Monarch fills in the organisation's backstory and titan lore; season two slots between Godzilla vs. Kong and The New Empire, but nothing in the films requires it.
Is the Skull Island anime canon?
Legendary counts it inside the MonsterVerse, but it's a standalone '90s-set survival story with no plot overlap—treat it as a bonus side story.
