Frequently asked questions
How many seasons of Severance are there? When is season 3?
Two seasons, 19 episodes. Season three was officially renewed in March 2025 and the writers' room is underway—no premiere date announced.
What do I need to know going in?
One line: the protagonist's work self (innie) knows nothing of his home self (outie), and vice versa. What Lumon is really severing is the mystery the show slowly answers.
Why the three-year gap before season 2?
Season one wrapped February 2022; a writers' room shakeup plus the dual Hollywood strikes pushed season two to January 2025. The wait held up—S2 broadly out-scored S1.
