Where to start
- Season 1 A strictly linear show—this is the only real entry point, starting the night Will vanishes.
- Season 4 Sampling one season? The Vecna arc is the biggest and best-reviewed chapter.
- Season 5 (final) The payoff season—it rewards full context, so arrive after S1–S4, never instead of them.
Coming up
- Stranger Things: Tales from '85 (animated spin-off)
Frequently asked questions
How many seasons and episodes is Stranger Things? Is it finished?
Five seasons, 42 episodes—the finale aired December 31, 2025, so the main story is complete. All episodes are on Netflix; a full run is about 37 hours.
Do I need any spin-offs or prequels first?
No—the main show is a self-contained line with no required side content. The animated Tales from '85 is a parallel extra for when it arrives.
Why did season 5 drop in three parts?
Netflix split the finale into three premieres: November 26, December 25 and the finale on December 31. All parts are now streaming, so you can watch straight through.
